Fallow Deer
Whilst Fallow deer originated in parts of Europe and Asia Minor, they were released into Australia and New Zealand in about 1830 and 1860 respectively. As a result, both countries now have herds that are well established over wide areas. In fact, it would be fair to say fallow are the most widespread of all six species of deer that are located throughout eastern Australia.
Adorned with a unique style of antler that are flattened out at the top to broad like palms, a mature fallow buck is indeed an impressive sight. Being aggressive by nature, and emanating a guttural grunting sound during the rut, fallow deer hunting is without doubt some of the most exciting hunting one can experience.
There is good hunting and trophy potential for fallow buck, both in Australia and New Zealand.
