Chital Deer
Chital deer are by far the most stunning species of deer we have in the South Pacific region. Their beautiful sleek looking chocolate coloured coat dappled with white spots, is a sight no first time chital hunter will ever forget. Not only do chital possess unbelievable beauty they are an extremely wary animal with highly tuned senses, which guarantees a challenging hunt. Adorned with wine glass style antlers, a mature chital stag is an impressive animal and is a highly sort after trophy by hunters far and wide.

Released in about 1802 in a number of locations throughout eastern Australia, the north Queensland release on the Burdekin River was the only one that was successful. Even today, this herd is doing extremely well with numbers seemingly ever on the increase and excellent trophy potential on offer. Even severe droughts, which at times, somewhat strangles the life out of their outback environment, fails to curtail their ongoing existence as numbers bounce back quickly when seasonal conditions improve.
