For the dedicated hunter seeking the ultimate challenge, the South Pacific has it all. From snow-clad mountaintops along New Zealand’s rugged Southern Alps to sweltering hot savannah bushland of Northern Australia, the diverse nature of the terrain oozing in wondrous natural beauty is but a taste of the surroundings one will encounter, whilst hunting any one of the unique game animals that make up the highly converted quest, known as the ‘South Pacific 15’.
Whilst it is fair to say, there is a marked difference in the degree of difficulty in obtaining a trophy animal from each of the 15 species in question. One thing is certain, a hunter who takes up the challenge will forever hold cherished memories of venturing into breathtaking and diverse locations and first hand knowledge of the incredible splendour, cunning, tenacity and power, the array of game animal’s down-under possess. Laid out below is a brief description and history of each of the 15 species that make up the slam, in the order that I successfully hunted each species over a twenty three year period.
